Advertising is the activity of drawing public attention to
Various Advertisements particular goods and services with the help of different

forms of media. Advertisement may be in the form of a notice, picture or film telling
people about a product, job or service. They draw our attention to various products and
describe them positively so that we become interested in buying them.

In fact, promoting sales is the most important motive of a manufacturer. So, he/she adopts
various methods to attract consumers to buy more and more products manufactured by him.
Advertising is one method whereby this goal can be achieved. These days the competition among
the similar products is very high. In such a situation, advertising serves to generate demand for
the product. It establishes a relationship between the consumer and the manufacturer.

The aim of advertising is to create the demand for the product.
It has the following specific objectives :

                 • To encourage people to buy the product.
                 • To keep the organisation in people’s eye.

                 • To differentiate any product from other products. That is, to convince the people
that it is better than other products available in the market.
                 • To provide information about a particular product or service including announcement
of the launch of a product, purchasing outlets, uses of the product, etc.

             branD

The word ‘brand’ has come from ranches in America. Cattle used to get mixed up in ranches.
To sort out the problem, the cattle owners used hot irons
to mark their cattle. The process was called branding of
cattle. In case of a product, branding is done by giving the
product a unique name and/or a unique logo. When the

brand name and logo flashes in front of our eyes for years
then they get registered in our subconscious mind. Chocolate
